Get terminated and get rehired again? So thats what it takes to get a pay raise after three years what a way to get a pay raise.
But yea its sucks for the SM at the gas station she has an employee that don't show up and on the verge of being fired soon. Then she just hired me full time and now I have to tell her I have no choice but my hours will have to be cut very soon as in next week soon! Or I will not be showing up when I'm scheduled sorry but BBV is paying me a dollar more, also its not so stressful, and its not an old nasty smelly gas station.

I guess it depends where the gas station is located.

The greater question is why come back when the company is so unstable? I hope for your sake you still have a job at Xmas. Maybe consider staying on at the gas station very part-time? You never know, it may be your saving grace.

I hope not... but it's unfortunately likely.

I currently have to go part time at the gas station I really have no choice.
But yes working for a gas station is stressful because it can get so busy really quick, people have problems at the pumps, people are nasty, they like to leave messes, and people get mad when you ask for an ID I can keep going on and on.

Retail sucks in general. I'm hesitant to stay in this industry. I'm tired of kissing stupid people ass and having to like it.

If you just substitute the words "the pumps" with "checkout", you've just described life behind the register at BB.

Newly re-hired- let's not be putting all our eggs (or pickles) in 1 basket. If your store makes it past July-you will be lucky. It's been speculated by others in media that when we post a hugely disappointing 4th quarter that "the corp" who will put next to nothing in capital to keep us afloat will say well we tried and liquidation city is around the corner. Oh, shit I can now be fired:)

People really having problems at the pump? OMG maybe you should bring a camera and youtube it hahahahah how hard can it be? Is everyone with the IQ of 40 coming to your gas station, damn. Also, I can't believe people really do complain about ID! Everyone carries ID around all the time. Its a card FFS! Were not doing 50 question to make sure its you or something.

he's not talking about people getting upset about asking to establish identity, he's talking about carding people to establish age restriction and ability to buy. Trust me, people get fucking irate when you ask them for ID and they don't happen to have it on them.
And most of the time that ppl have issues at the pump it's because in this day and age of outrageous gas prices, most (if not all) gas stations require you to either prepay inside or pay by cc at the pump. You can no longer just pump and then pay afterwards when you go in to pick up the rest of your items.
And no, I don't currently work at a gas station but I have in the past and if retail has taught us anything it's that day in and day out, year in and year out, customers never change and they never get any smarter or more reasonable.

Trust me, people get fucking irate when you ask them for ID and they don't happen to have it on them. Yep people are addicted to some products that you are required to ask an ID for and if they can't get their fix then some people get very irate and get crazy. Also people don't understand that if I don't enforce the ID laws then I could get fined and go to jail for selling to minors.

You can no longer just pump and then pay afterwards when you go in to pick up the rest of your items. I live in a state where you are required to prepay expect if you pay at the pump then you could "fill up" as most people call it. Some people have issues with their cards at the pump so they have to come inside to pay and they come in and tell me "I need a fill up" I have to tell them "I can't do that inside the store" some people get mad and want to argue over it. Some people smoke at the pumps and some people "top off" their tanks and spill gas all over the place. We had this one girl buy a gas can and she brought it back inside the store and almost spilled gas all over my counter. She also brought up a bottle of motor oil and asked me if she could use it to put gas in I told her no thats illegal. Also other people want to buy a gallon of water to use it as a gas can .

tell them to get one of those styrofoam coolers, put it on their back seat and fill it up with gas. They hold gas really well!

As if I weren't paranoid enough thinking all the other motorists were schizo or DUI, now I have think about people speeding around in potential hydrogen bombs.
