This is a great site you guys have. I have never liked BlockBuster. I used to rent at my local video shop for a $1.75 per movie. Since online/mail rentals have come out I have tried them all. I am currently a subscriber to BlockBuster online. How about adding a section to discuss the problems with BlockBusters online rentals. Here are a few of my Online complaints.
1. The new release section is limited to very few "New Releases". I have asked BB why this is and the answer is they only list new movies that they have available to ship. This sucks for people that want to see what movies came out this week. They told me to search for the name of the movie and it will show up. Well unless I go to Netfix and search their new release section how am I supposed to know what movies have been releases?
2. The in store rental coupons suck. Everytime I use on they will not scan. The employee always complains and has to type in the 20-30 digit number. Most of the time they get it wrong and type it in a few times more. They make me feel like it is my fault. I have seen other customers have coupon problems too. Don't get me wrong the 2 free in store coupons are the only reason I use BB over Netflix. They should work better.
3. Get the movies to me faster!! Most of my movies take longer than the estimated time to arrive at my house. They always delay a day after they receive a return before sending out the next movie.
4. Stop doing website maintenance in the middle of the day. Right now the BB website is down due to maintenance. Can't they fix these problems at night?
OK that is enough ranting. Keep up the good work with the site.

that'll tell you everything that's coming out.
also, the coupons suck because you print them out at home and bring us the whole damn sheet of paper! cut the coupon out on the dotted lines! We can't stick a whole sheet of paper in our tills. And if the barcode doesn't work, get a better printer! 90% of the coupons i have scanned work just fine.

2 hours later and BlockBuster.com is still down. Maybe I should print my coupons out on photo paper. Then I could cut them out and laminate them. This should make your job a little easier. Or you could get a bigger drawer.
Thanks for the link. I did not know Little House on the Prarie season 7 was out on DVD. I wish BB Online was up so I could add it to my Que.

I just signed up for Blockbuster Online. They've been having a problem with their site ALL damn day!!! I decided on Blockbuster vs. Netflix because it was cheaper. I think the "Site Maintenance" display they have is only a cover up for some possibly shotty web server problems.....

Ok I've been surfing around this message board for a little bit. It is clear that this place is full of BB employees. Yeah it might take 5 seconds to cut out but it would take me at least 5 minutes to find a pair of scissors at my house. You guys should appreciate customers that bring in un-cut coupons. Mastering a new skill like scissor operation could help you advance in your career.

Dont start bitching about cutting coupons out in this thread. He started this topic to give his positives and negatives about the online offer. If you want to bitch, PM me and I will give you a reason to, but dont give customers shit when they are just putting in their 2 cents.
As far as the site being down, it will be back up sometime. We're experiencing a high volume of visitors, and its being maintained to be able to support that. If you have any questions or concerns about it, feel free to PM me.

I just use the counter and rip. I don't care if the customer does not do it, however if I can do it in less than five seconds, then so could they.

just to let you know, if the coupon you printed is from the net and you printed it, its not the coupon its your printer. Alot of low end printers do a horrible job copying the coupons that will scan at the register. Just be patient when the employee has to type the numbers. Thank god I work at a store where the customers are understanding and great to do business with.

I'd add recieving broken or badly damaged disks to the list of annoyances as well as recieving TV series out of order when sequence is actually important.
The learning a new skills comment was unmerited and pretty assholish.

Here in the U.K. i use screen select for my online renting. I've been with them for about 7 months and in that time i've only recieved one bad disc. With most of their t.v. series they have a send in series order button. I find their site easier to navigate than the B.B. site. :D

Don't forget that a lot of broken/damaged disks is due to the post office. Everyone always blames it on BBV or Netflix, but really - it's a sensitive item being sent through a huge system - there's bound to be some issues.
And Dan, I won't add to those giving you shit for not ripping the coupons, but it does help us out if you do - after all, if you go to the supermarket, you don't hand them the whole flyer, right?
And if the employees at your store are honestly truly complaining about having to type in the numbers, I'm sorry. Yeah, it's a pain, and I may jokingly complain (well, not me as I type about 90 wpm and it's no problem for me), but I would never make the customer feel bad.

Just print the coupons in BLACK AND WHITE and they come out beautiful on even the cheapest and oldest of printers. Its when printing them in color that a problem arises. The barcode gets slightly blurred by the overlay of colors, and the in-store scanners need crisp lines to read the codes.

any suggestions on why the cerdit cards don't work besides the ones we already know about ie: different mailing address for credit card etc. we loose more activations by this then anything else. i have noticed if after they enter year of expiration if they don't click the mouse and scroll down to continue the year will change with the scroll, but something else is going on also.???

Well, I truly hope BBI sees this site and makes it's online site better for the consumer. Just remember... It is relativly new, so they learn as they go! As for the coupons not scanning... So what if it doesn't? Who really cares? I mean come on guys... If I ever heard a CSR or AM complaining in front of one of my customers... Well, it's time for some serious thought concerning them. If they are so lazy as to not be able to punch in a few numbers... Get real! As to the employees who can't understand why a customer hands us a peice of paper with the coupon not cut out... Becuase they can! Having said that... I often hand that said customer a pair of scissors so they can cut the coupon out for me! I have never had a customer tell me, "No I'm not going to do that!" Work is like everything else... You have to train your customers! Just remember they are our GUESTS and the reason we currently have our jobs. I think the guy had a great point for making this post. He wasn't trashing any of us workers... except those complaining in his face! Thanks for making us aware of the problems you see!

I don't mind typing in the barcode numbers, mainly because our scanners suck anyway. And I don't mind cutting out coupons, although I will cut them out in front of the customer before I scan anything. Come on people you know what the dotted line is for. Like someone else said , do you hand the whole flyer to the checkout person at at a grocery store?

Um...DanGuy...do you have hands? Because if you do have hands, you can fold the paper to make creases around the coupon. Here's the really neat part, you can then tear your crappy printer coupon out. And yes, I have learned how to use scissors and box cutters to do this for your lazy ass. And if you want your fucking rental prices to go up, we'd surely love to get bigger tills and newer computers.

Yeah, well, he also missed the memo about rental rates dropping to $2.99, too.
Probably will stop back in sometime in 2008 and comment on that:rolleyes:
