Apparently there is a new Blockbuster Online scam going on. I got a call last week from a collection agency trying to collect money I supposedly owed to BB. When I protested that I have never signed up for anything with them, the collection agency guy said, and I'm not making this up, "They have a sneaky pop-up window.....if you don't specifically refuse, you are signed up.....". Well, when THEIR collection guy calls them sneaky, chances are pretty good they are up to something unethical. I absolutely never signed up with BB for ANYTHING, and the only thing that saved me from being charged for their scam was that my bank (I love my bank!) smelled a rat and refused payment. How they even got my bank info is beyond me. Anyone else been hit with this? Thanks.

It's hard to tell by your wording but I am not sure if you realize or not, that the person who called you was not affiliated with Blockbuster nor a collection agency of theirs. The Collection Agency they use does not use live people to contact you via phone under any circumstance. You will get automated calls for late returns and after that it is pretty much all postcards and letters. No calls like this are done ... period.
Someone who is somewhat familiar with Blockbuster Online came up with a nifty new scam. My question is the same as yours, though. How did your Bank Account Info fall into this person's hands?
I would definitely get the police involved. They more than likely blocked the call when they contacted you, but I would definitely see if something could be done to track these clowns and get them put away.

I'm more interested in this magic pop-up that can immediately sign you up for a subscription service with personal billing information. I'd love to meet the guy who programmed that trick.

I find this to be very believable and have no reason to doubt the validity of the OP's statement.

What it did was - it ripped his thoughts right out of his head (full name, full address, credit card number and or checking account number - undoubtedly both since he didn't actually specificy.) It also opted to put this information to good use to send him DVDs. You know, tons of people now days are stealing credit cards and using them to sign the card holder up for online movie rental subscriptions.

I think the real moral of this story is: Don't kill strippers. Most of them have feelings too. Unless they have sneaky pop-up windows that steal all your singles from your wallet and hide them in the cavernous depths of their thongs. Then you can kill them.

c'mon we're adults here...and this is sillyapparently not all of us. Most adults can type in complete sentences without using things like OMG, ur, LOL etc. These things belong in a teen chat room, not here. What is silly is the fact that you keep interjecting your random thoughts into threads that haven't been active in 6 months. Do you not have any more respect for yourself than to make yourself look like a fool by typing random shit just because you're bored?

It's annoying. It's like a car alarm blaring needlessly in the middle of the night kind of annoying.
Why is is that annoying? Because it's so preventable, just by people understanding the basic etiquette of online forums.

You do realize the OP hasn't posted since August of last year, don't you?
I can appreciate digging up an old thread if you had something new to add, such as a recent scam that you observed that was like the OP's one. But your post is directed at the OP, calling him a dummy. He will likely never read it nor will he respond to your statement.
