where to begin.
i have been working in video retail for two years now a year and half of those at choices video which is only uk based.
i then moved to blockbuster videos.

basically.
you all seem to think its the employees fault if you get a film back late or we dont scan it in.
main reason being you think its good to hand it on a pile of dvds that have already been returned . it says quite clearly drop boxes are in use throught the day and are being emptied regulary.
if you hand it on the side then just wander off how are we to know youve returnd it.
and you dont have to get bitchy and shit down the phone just explain that you handed it on to the counter with some boxes then well look and find it for you.

i dont know about the usa based stores but in our store we dont let people return films to the store because of the content.
there is things about the film on the back and it has a clear rating . so please its not our fault, its just like saying oh i bought this cd of my favourite band and i dont like the singing in it.
useless.

then you get the regular people who try to screw you over. fair enough if youe been a good customer and you bring a film back because it is faulty then yes we will happilyoffer an exchange or another film, but if your one of these people who think they can scam us evertime and if we say no you get real uptight and start mouthing off because we wont give you the 10000th credit.
chill out.
at the end of the day. its a video store.
we dont want hassle we want customer to enjoy themselves.
maybe you dont like the store but listen its down to the company policy and that. everything we say or do is by the rules that blockbusters as a company has made. we only inforce these rules.
just imagine how it would be if you were on the other side.

Your knowledge of the English language is almost non-existent. Had you passed the third grade, we might be able to comprehend what you're trying to put across to us.

However, that is not the case.

Go back to school, learn how to spell and use proper grammar, then we'll talk.

Holy junk, a typo.

I've actually been screwing things up this past weekend for some reason.

I had to switch to a pencil when I wrote my article this past Saturday, I had way too many mess-ups.

a wise man once told me that "retail is detail"

i think that sums it up....if employees do not take there time and think about what they are doing and do not pay attention the the tasks at hand, even if it is as simple as emptying the drop box then mistakes will be made. this is one reaon for having employee id's. mistakes can be tracked and accountability realised.

if we all slowed down a tad then less mistakes would be made. Companies are forged by reponsible, suitable and well trained employees that understand and respect there role and their store managers. yes everyone makes mistakes from time to time and i am by no means an exception. we are in the business of customer relations and it is our job to represent the company in every way. if we take our time then there will be less fuck ups that cause our customers grief...simple as

one of the most misspelled words I have ever seen is "Sale" - look at Craigslist - probably 1 out of 5 "for sale" posts have the user saying "I have a car for SELL" or "Does anyone have a laptop for SELL?"

I wonder if it's just a type or if these morons actually think that it's correct to say "For sell"?

About 90% of the employees at my store do this. Apparently, "sell" and "sale" are interchangeable.

It's Blockbuster Entertainment now? I thought it was still just Blockbuster Inc??? I remember when they started to go around and replace people's awnings and signs to JUST say Blockbuster, and not Blockbuster Video, because it made people "think we were primarily a VHS rental chain, when clearly we were now DVD." I know its not really a big detail, but this just reminds me of how much they do behind the scenes and never tell us about.

Kind of like when they up and changed all the Total Access plans OVER NIGHT, and didn't tell us till over a week later? And HOW did they tell us? An email sent by corporate that said "We changed all the Total Access plans. To see what they did, go log onto your laptop. Also, answer any customer complaints or questions as best you can. Thanks." I also love how easy it would have been to add a small message to people's TA accounts so when they logged in, it would tell them "Hey, we changed shit." Instead, they sent it via an email that 99% of ALL email clients received as SPAM and blocked or deleted instantly. I STILL get the occasional customer who comes in and wonders why their entire plan is different now and why they were never told.

Whatever. AS for the UK ghost guy, who I think we scared away rather effectively, dude.... if someone puts a movie on the counter or on a stack as "returned" rather than give it TO an employee or a drop-box... then the person who is supposed to be up front greeting EVERY customer needs to tell them NEVER to do that, and that IF they do, it ill be documented on their account that they do that, because if someone ELSE comes and steals it off the counter or we don't check it in, it is NOT our liability as stated on the membership agreement THEY signed, because it was never ACTUALLY returned to a Blockbuster designated returns area. I tell people that daily, and they usually understand. Thats all it takes man.
