Is BB Online at the end of its road when they can't even keep blockbuster.com up? I have been getting this for the last 3 hours (didn't bother checking before then, so who know how long it's been out):
SITE UNAVAILABLE
We’re sorry, BLOCKBUSTER.com is temporarily unavailable while we make some changes to the site. We’re working hard to bring you an ever better BLOCKBUSTER Online experience. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Check back soon!

Well, they did tell you the site is being upgraded.Don't panic. Sometimes companies need to work on their sites, thus making it unavailable for awhile. Just be patient.

What the hell kind of DVD rental emergency are you experiencing that you've been trying to log on to blockbuster.com for three hours?
Chill out.
The "Check back soon!" leads me to believe it'll be back online by this evening at the latest. Maybe if it's still not up then we can assume it's the end of the world.

After exhaustive contemplation of the above, my conclusion is that the site is unavailable, possibly because they're making changes, most likely to bring you an even better BLOCKBUSTER Online experience or something. I'll bet they're probably sorry, and my advice would be to check again soon.

Jesus H Christ... and people say **I** can't find anything good to say about BBI.
I mean, my bank does routine site maintenance. My cell phone provider does routine site maintenance. HSX was down for most of the day.
It happens.

I'm surprised they actually admitted they actually admitted they were having technical difficulties. No respectable website should go down in the middle of the day, be it for upgrades or any other reason.

i'm hoping that the web site troubles also caused our POS computers to go slower than erosion last night...and they had better have fixed it by now. I am sick of our computers going so damn slow and trying to do a preauth locks up the computer and you have to reboot it twice to get it unfrozen.

I don't know about that. I mean, there are areas of CA where erosion is MUCH quicker than your POS computers (and here, of course, POS stands for... ;) )
And the reason they move so slow is they're 25 FREAKIN YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!! I've dated women younger than your computers

I'm no fan of Blockbuster at all, being a frequent critic of their labor policies, training, and customer service ethics. Oz is perhaps the most outspoken critic of Blockbuster on the forum with regards to their business insight. In individual situations, I am biased only to logic and reason, which has me siding sometimes one way and sometimes another depending on the available facts.

Anyone else been having problems with their CC machines? One of mine doesn't work at all, even after we reboot it, one of the other ones works when it wants to.

Dunno. It disappeared quite a long time ago, so I uploaded it again, but still couldn't see it myself, but it seems like everyone else could. So, it's COMPLETELY gone, again??
I must have violated some MySpace rule about being too damned good looking, or something ;)

our problem has been the satellite connection - every 10 minutes the damn thing reboots itself and takes 5 minutes to come back up meaning we can process credit cards or giftcards and if you try to bring up an acct, the ICV thing takes 30 seconds and don't even mention what happens when you scan a rewards card...you wait at least 1 minute for the account to come up. It has nothing to do with the POS computers, it's the connection to the outside world.

Don't listen to the haters! I totally get ya. Like today, I was feeling some hunger pains and decided to swing into the closest McDonald's. I rock up, park and head towards the door to go inside and they were locked with a sign on it saying something along the lines of, "Sorry! Lobby closed for maintenance, drive through still open!" So I sat in my car for 3 hours waiting before I finally gave up and left hungry! On my way home I kept thinking "Is McDonald's at the end of it's road when they can't even keep a lobby open?"

Fanboys also get upset when whatever they do doesnt work.
I admit when stock market site is down it irks me, even hsx does. Mainly because I wanna do what I wanna do now and not later. I'm sure several of you have been irked when this site is down or having issues. Reference some of the threads for which chris now trims the tree's to keep us active.
I can see how it happens with the bbv site also.
One thing is though people have to realize its the web not a store. The web takes maintanence. You would prefer they do it over night, but sometimes servers just break down, or some file corrupts and you must take your backup and reload. Anyone who has ever made their own website knows all the issues that you run across over time.
Btw: When i left bbv I got Nflx for a couple months [before i cancelled it cause i sat on movies for weeks at a time]. Nflx was down several times over that period for upgrades and occasionally for who knows what. Just like peoples threats of lawsuit this and lawsuit that is a pet peeve of mine so is the misconception grass is always greener, yada yada. Yards usually the same just different people to play with you may or may not end up getting a long with.
