View Full Version : Blockbuster Online is ripping me off

I quit Blockbuster online on May 28, 2008. I had sent all my videos back. I always returned all my videos right away. On July 3, I get an email with the following:

We have completed your request to cancel your BLOCKBUSTER OnlineŽ 3 at a time membership on 05/28/2008.

However, our records indicate Desperate Housewives: The Complete Third Season [Dirty Laundry Edition] - Disc 1 has not been received, and we have charged your payment account ############ $21.19.

If you have already returned the movie, you will be refunded the $21.19 less a $0.0 restocking fee.

If you feel you have been billed in error, please contact Customer Care at 1-866-692-2789 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. CST Monday through Friday.

Thanks,
BLOCKBUSTER OnlineŽ Customer Care

Well I called Customer care, and told them that I had already returned it. They asked if I had an email, stating that it had been returned. Of course I did not. They said they would have to charge me, since they had no record of it. But if it turns up they would then refund me.

This is the worse excuse I have ever heard to steal money from a customer after they have quit. I find it strange that I never had a problem with my dvd's being returned till after I quit them. I even talked to a supervisor and she was a nasty bitch and acted like I was keeping the dvd. Which I told her if I was going to steal, don't you think I would have kept one of the BlueRay dvd that are worth more? She did not say anything when I asked her that.

So I filed a complaint on Blockbuster with the Better Business Bureau. And have called Visa to protest the charge. So I hope I don't get charged for DVD that Blockbuster ripped me off on.

So what ever you do, don't join Blockbuster Online, they will rob you blind.

Did you ever check your Que to see if your renturns have happened befor you cancelled? Stuff gets lost in the mail all the time, not to mention postal theft(happened here). Prostesting the charge is ok by me, but complaining to the Better Business Bureau cracks me up. Also try getting info or a refund from Netflix.

My Que shows no movies shipped. From the day I canceled, it has shown 0 shipped movies, and I never got no emails that any of my movies have been returned.

As far as filing a complaint with BBB. You should go look up Corp Blockbuster and see how many complaints are filed against them. Its about the only choice you have when a business rips you off for no reason.

Netflix? Why would I contact them about this issue? They had nothing to do with it.

Your que also would show you movies returned.

All corps have a long complaint list

As far as netfix, I was referring to being a member.. Did I say contact them about your problem?

Yes this was your quote about Netfilx

After I canceled I never got any emails about no returns. Like I said they canceled my shipped que on the 28th.

"Also try getting info or a refund from Netflix."

As far as Netflix goes, I have joined them. I joined because of the Roku box.

netflix sux.

I tried em for 25 or so days and cancelled. Not only did they bill me again and i had to file a chargeback they claimed they didnt get my final 2 movies back even though I had mails stating thanks for returning them. To make a long mess short they still havent fixed and I cant stand them.

Enjoy your new screw over via NFI

That's because most people on the site are employees and have better things to do then read about people not returning their movies.
We've all been there.
The movies 'magically' turn up a couple days later in the drop-box.
I'm sorry, your plight just isn't very interesting.

Figures, typical blockbuster attitude of the Einsteins that work there. Bet so many people of jealous of your jobs, and then you get to come here and post. Wow what a great life. LOL

hmmm..better than spending our time searching for some site to bash an online renting company. Considering you could have handled ur situation better or with more intelligence, I would like to say, Welcome to Netflix :)...They are worse..I had both...and there is nothing wrong with working at blockbuster...if u are going place...or enjoy ur job. Im sure u can not have such a great job with ur horrific grammar.

I am getting a headache....

Do you proofread your posts?

Anyway, call Blockbuster online and explain that you don't have anything. Let them know you mailed it in. If you spoke to them as unintelligibly as you post, no wonder you didn't get resolution.

Tell them exactly what happened, dont assume they know.

Tell them exactly what you expect to happen, don't assume they know.

Tell them what your recourse will be if nothing happens, again don't asusme they will know.

Here is the hard part, be polite, the person on the other end of the phone had nothing to do with your missing DVD and honestly doesnt care. Make them feel bad for you, works wonders.

where is everybody tonight? Oh right, your asking every customer would you like pop corn or candy with that movie? That training must have took months.

For anybody looking on how to get your money back from Blockbuster if they charged you like I was, go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint on the corp. I got a refund within a week. And you don't have to deal with the Blockbuster idiots in Customer Services. Here is a copy of the email I got today.

On July 11, 2008, the business provided the following information:
Thank you for forwarding us the letter concerning your recent experience. Customer feedback is very important to us, and we are glad they took the time to write. At BLOCKBUSTER, we realize that nothing is more important than our members. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining an outstanding level of customer service.

Although we have not yet received the title back, we have decided to credit the customer for the Non Returned Product charge. We have refunded the customer $21.19, and no further charges will be initiated, since this account is cancelled.

Regards,

Customer Care

That one nailed me right through the heart. I actually sympathized with your case, but you still lumped everyone together and pulled the superiority by means card. Congratulations.

Now let me pull the superiority by intelligence card.

Most people in the US are required to attend school for at least ten years. If you can't learn the difference between your and you're in ten years (or learn to conjugate the verb to take), then you are an imbecile.
