If you are a member of BB mail in service & have noticed a slowdown in delivery of your movies you might like to know about a new policy they have started called throttling. The way it works is once you get 10 movies they will begin to slow down deliveries regardless of how many you pay for each month. Not only that they are going to raise prices again on what you do get. This is fraud & a deceptive practice that everyone should know about. My source for this info comes from an employee at a company owned store.

Deceptive practice: I hear they charge you more for DVDs than they actually cost the company!
And did you know that they rent out the SAME copy of a rental to MULTIPLE people?

Chill out. Talk to corporate if you are going to get a big dick about it. The workers at the bottom of the chain never have any say in what "big business ventures" the company heads towards.

I always tell customers about shitty things that will effect them in my store. I think some of the things they do are bs. Like taking away BD favorites. Maybe the employees don't know EVERYTHING, but they ones who aren't ALSO trying to con customers know plenty.

You're talking to the people that run the store, not the online. If you have a problem with the online, call the online support center. I can tell you this much about the online from my personal experience:
1) They send you movies through the mail and you have a monthly payment
2) You can exchange your movies in store, and the store gets like a $1.00 or $1.50... maybe $2 for each coupon
3) No one from the online ever turns in their in-store movies in on time
4) You have an account online
Man... it's like I'm stalking you!! I know all about your blockbuster account!

do stores actually get revenue from online mailer exchanges? it sounds fair to stores, but i kinda doubt they do.

Yeah we do, it's like a dollar or so, and that's best benefit for the store.

When did they start this up again? They haven't paid the stores anything in a long time.

yeah my SM and i had several talks about this kind of stuff. stores haven't been getting paid for in-store transactions. hell, our stuffed toy machine is making some real dough but we haven't got any of the proceeds. apparently, the checks get sent to blockbuster.
whenever the machine technician dude comes in now, i give him the same sideways look my SM gave him.

the topic starter was referring to an email that was sent internally to all managers in store several months back to inform them of why customers would be addressing them with complaints about slow online response time (granted the time we all got an internal email stating to "Ignore the protestors" it had no information as to WHY! there would be protestors)
the change was not documented to customers in any way, the email was , at that time, labeled confidential, and it was done to make sure that new users would have a good experience where as the ones who "make full use" of the program would no longer cost the company money by seeing every movie at about 50 cents per movie watched or less. same reason that the lovely ceo jim keyes who took over about a year ago now stopped almost all advertising on blockbuster online, removed all references from the stores (remember those little inserts in the dvd covers, yeah, we had to remove all of them) and just let it slowly fade into oblivion, it was costing the company more money than it was making and he wanted to shut it down.

You know way to much and that's scary.
Especially about the online.

I have noticed a huge difference in the time for my movies to turn around. When I reactivated my BBO account. I got a turn around time of 3 days. One day to receive watch it take it to the store, the next day my new movie is sent out and I receive it the third day. Now I am on a 4-5 day rotation. I am not one of those people that holds on to a movie. Every day i walk to get my daughter from day care. I then take the movie I watched the night before to the store, both the in store rental plus the one I got in the mail. It was something to bide my time as I wait for my new movies to come.
I will be going to netflix I think. This is absolutely ridiculous.
I am also suprised at how many employees are on this site. One would think it would be against complany policy.

I hate that blockbuster is able to exhange online rentals for in store rentals free,
they should just be discounted all of them!!! Because than none of the stores are going to make money this way!!!!! even if they did change it, than we would loose customers becasue BBV is changing something that convenienced them! honestly... bad move on corporates part on trying to get revenue for the company! even thought customers do pay monthly... how will stores make money when the world gets lazy and does not want to leave their houses anymore to rent??????????????????

I don't think that counts as fraud... or deceptive practice for that matter. Unless they specifically promise a certain delivery time on the movies. Not that any of that matters since the movies sent through that service use a flat rate mailing option which is not paid per send-out. If delivery is slowing down I'd look to the delivery service rather than BBI
