So ok i have been with blockbuster for nearly 2 years now, and i have to say as much as i hold a grudge against it, i actually quite like my job in some respects sure you get arsey customers, sure the work is plentiful etc. but one thing is really grinding my gears..

WHATS WITH THE PAY??????

ok i have enough pay to get by but what with all this new Catagorising success thing that we have been asked to do our stores team is in pieces!!

The mod's are pissed and stressed because we get the same pay as jonnyboy *not a real person* who's job it is to simply put boxes back on shelves we are over-run, asked to do stuff that am's are meant to do because ours got fired, and we feel run down! the manager doesnt see our plights and laughs it off yet all he/she does is come in and take the credit!.

the same wage as miss big boobs who puts stock on the food sections,

what is with it? if anything goes wrong on my shift i'm the manager in charge not them, yet i get paid the same??

is there no incentive to be any higher than a csr pawn nowadays?

i mean come on? free rentals is cool but it doesnt exactly pay the bills! and everyone gets the same? what is it cast the same stone to everyone?

i guess this is kind of a rant, and yes i could go find a better job but what is blockbusters view on this? any store managers want to throw in their five pence?

has this always been policy? it's goddamn crazy if you ask me...

*oh hi would you like a job?? yes please! Great your doing twice the job that jonny is doing for the same wage.. GREAAAT WHERE DO I SIGN!!!*

it's crazy no?

The wage is good enough, the only reason everyone gets the same is because it's minimum wage, so they can't pay any less to those who don't have the extra responsibility and they can't afford to pay more to those who do.

Also the whole term MOD is just rubbish, don't know about anyone else but as far as my store is concerned you have Manager - Assistant Manager - CSR, there is no real MOD as the only slight difference you have with that title is that you will be the one called upon if there are any problems that a CSR can't handle and the only reason they shouldn't be able to handle something is if it either a) requires a manager - NOT a MOD, an actual manager, in which case the MOD would be no good in such a situation or b) they don't know what to do as they have not yet been trained on it - in which case everyone starts in that boat and that will be the same at any work place.

I am sure you would have been the first to complain if you started a job and then found out the person who has been there a month longer gets paid more.

MODS are just CSR's and 99% of the time have no more work to do then anyone else working on a shift, on that rare 1% occasion when you need to do something extra it's hardly worth a pay rise.

Get another job then...........
Agreed 100%. Unless there are just no jobs available in your locale, there is no reason to go to a job that you abhor and feel is under compensating you.

There's a thought. Job security and getting paid to do something you enjoy. If you're gay that is. :D

There used to be a Pay Rise scheme in UK about 3 yrs ago, how it worked you complete starmaker on each level and your standard pay will go up around 15p for each section (this was the time we had around 7 rentals a week)

So they decided to scrap the pay scheme bonus thing and give us an extra 3 rentals (making 10 in all) so this is when i threw starmaker booklet out the window... do you blame me!? lol i'd prefer the 7 rentals and payrise than having an extra 3 rentals and not using them all... pffffttt and also do you remember last year we got a survey looking into new uniforms? what the hell happened to that?!

Oh my god that was a lot of whining to read. And JackSM are you really an SM? I'd hate to work your store with that attitude."MODS are just CSR's and 99% of the time have no more work to do then anyone else working on a shift" ???? Are you friggin kidding me?

Remember I am in the UK and over here anyone can be a MOD, you need no special training nothing different then anyone else, generally the MOD is the person with the most experience, thats it, nothing more.
We don't even assign MOD's anymore so tonight for example no one is particulary the MOD and no one isn't.

Everyone at my store can do exactly the same as everyone else, they can all do credits, refunds, deal with complaints, run payroll, edit time clocks, recieve and transfer products etc...

I think the misunderstanding here is that as all my staff can do everything a MOD can do there is no difference in being a MOD or not, perhaps in other stores the MOD can do things that the other CSR's cannot but not so in most stores I have worked in.

The only time it is neccesary for someone to be a MOD is when working with a new member of staff who obviously isn't going to know how to do everything until they are trained up.

I'm not putting MOD's down but rather praising my CSR's as they all do the same tasks as any MOD would do.

Apparently, the US government destroyed it all.

Try to get promoted or something to get more pay if you feel you're not getting paid enough. Work Hard! Working hard gets you somewhere.....
