I don't really HATE blockbuster but I am pretty upset with them right now. I was doing a search on blockbuster complaints and came across this website, I was hoping maybe someone could help me.

On 11/30 I bought a Rock Band 2 guitar and drum set for PS2. When paying $171 at the register for them I asked the girl (with her manager standing there) could I return these (I really wanted the wii equipment but could not find it)? She said yes, as long as they are not open. I showed her the tape has already been busted on them. She said (with her manager standing there) no problem, just don't slide them out of the sleeve. I left with the 2 pieces, put them in the closet for safe keeping. Last night I found the wii bundle pack i really wanted. Lat night, I returned to BBV to return the PS2. They would not take them back because they were open. Explained the whole convo above, had the manager on duty call the store manager at home. They tried to call the manager that was on duty that day, but of course nothing. They told me the manager that was on duty the night I bought them would be in today, to come back so she could verify that she knew they were sold open. Went back today. Reminded her what happened when I bought it. She said she would have never sold anything that was already open, she would have got me another set from the back. Yea, whatever. She called her manager at home again, still would not return it. I asked could she call a regional manager or something...NO. I came home and called the number on the receipt and exlained my situation. They are "escalating it to a regional manager."

Now, I am hoping someone on here and give me some insight on what to do from here. I swear I bought both of those boxes already opened. Any idea's??

hi i used to work for bbv approx. 1 week ago and then i quit for various reasons but to help solve your issue you can have them pull videotape and zoom in on that particular manager from that night selling you the ps2 game equipment open or take it to the rdo (regional director of operations) if that doesnt work then take it to their human resources manager

while i feel bad for you, you should've just been more patient and waited on what you ACTUALLY wanted. i know it sounds harsh, but there are several ways for you to make sure you get what you were looking for without having to go through the nonsense.

it would have been as simple as having them print a copy of your account info and putting in a reserve area. that way, when the wii materials come in, they could call you and inform you that they have it in. hell, just calling them on their shipment days would've been enough.

I agree with BUYMYCAR, you should have waited, also it's been over 30 days since you bought it. They way you want to do business will cost that store money, possible they could have sold it to someone who really wanted it. Now that being said , you probably will get your way.

Here's my question:

Why would you purchase, for full price, an opened item, for the wrong system?

You never should of bought something you didn't want. You should of waited and NEVER buy something that has been opened.

just to be sure of something, but aren't most of our electronics already opened for hardware checks? well, at least the seals...

No.

Anyway, how has our culture become so fucking enamored with buying things and returning them? "I just want to buy something, I don't even care what it is! When it later hits me how stupid my purchase was I'll simply return it! Buy buy buy!"

i think it's every customer's right to expect that their items of purchase can be returned. in fact, it's the law under the UCC as warranties of merchantability. it's not that much of a bother when people want to return something, at least to me. to me, it sucks to have to make buying decisions in a restricted amount of time. for like the last few years, it feels like there is an increasing amount of model and price turnover on products. it makes it hard to convince yourself that you're getting your money's worth. so yeah, even after putting a lot of thought and research into a purchase, you go for it and hope you aren't screwed over.

but i completely agree that people make some really stupid decisions when it comes to buying and react even more stupidly when they don't get their way. we've had so many customers buy DVDs from us and ask us for refunds because they found them cheaper at other retailers. my ASM put up a sign about this because he was tired of it but my SM took it down the next day.

People have buyers remorse, or they just get in a situation they need the cash. Others just really made a bad purchase. Only a very tiny percentage are trying to rip someone off.

The problem with retailers and even moreso now is they look at a return as if someone is trying to rip them off and take candy from their baby. In essense all that retailer does is loses that customer for life, and maybe a few of their friends and/or coworkers also. Add up those dollars. Its ok to be short sighted just to dont try to view the future.

How can you call me paranoid when I know for a fact everyone is trying to rip me off.

take candy from a baby. why is that a phrase? its not really that hard. just reach over and take it. a lot of times the baby won't even notice. and if it does, what's the worst it can do? cry at you?

Most of the time it is obviously a reference to these ease.

In this instance its moreso referenceing the infuriation a parent would feel if witnessing such event upon their child.

i know its a reference to the ease...but its like how is that easy if the baby is so helpless? i dunno its just always rubbed me the wrong way. i dunno what could replace it though.

i worked at a blockbuster when guitar hero world tour was realeased, and 3 people pre-orderd the full band bundle. all 3 of them had something wrong with them, 2 the guitar didnt fully work and the other both the drums and guitar didnt function properly. all of them tried to return them the next day but was to to contact activision about replacements. i think thats bs for a customer to have to do that, especially the next day after it was released. we even had some extra bundles we could exchange for them. but nope never happened. i know atleast one of the customers disputed the charge then brought it back and just set it on the counter and left.

It's the same with Rock Band 2. I have to return mine to the activision compnay because of the drumset.

However, the manager's in the wrong too. For something that **big** on telling the customer that she can return the product open, she should've noted the account or put a warning on there.

At the same time, you really should've waited, lady. It's not worth the gas driving back and forth like that, especially when you know there's gonna be some type of confrontation. That's why I always make sure I want something before I buy it because I don't like driving back to stores, arguing with a manager and what-not. It's not worth my time.

The easiest way to get what you want from a blockbuster is to call customer support, right now, they will call the store up and "strongly suggest" to the MOD that they do what the customer wants, reguardless of the situation, the customer could be telling the truth, could be blatantly ripping the company off, the store will be forced to do whatever the cust wants, my store recently had a cust come in and trade some games under the now defunct gamerush program, (tho trading still exists) trade 200 dollars worth of videogames, the receipt, the signed agreement, everything states all trades are final, she disputed the trade, claimed that she was "tricked", got her games back, and was allowed to keep the trade in credit.

Someone should have taken that credit off her account because she got her games back. It would make perfect sense and there is no way she can't complain about that.
