View Full Version : OK, I have boycotted Blockbuster for years, but...

I must agree with the originator of this forum, that I hate blockbuster. I have had numerous bad experiences in the past, and have sworn off ever patronizing Blockbuster again. I was, however, bombarded with requests from my children and spouse to rent some movies for the new year's holiday, and so, armed with my very old and unused Blockbuster card, a list from my family, I made the hated journey to my local Rochester Hills store. This leads to my shock. I walked up to the counter and asked for help finding the movies on my list. The employee asked for my list and lead me through the aisles, collecting my movies. Every question I had about the quality of the movie was answered. The employee even told what movies NOT to rent, as they were bad, inappropriate, etc. I was surprised that an employee would talk a customer out of a purchase, but I could not help but to believe him. I was checked out and on my way with no issue.

I know this is an "I hate Blockbuster" site, but I am willing to recognize great customer service. Maybe I was wrong about Blockbuster, or maybe this was an oddity, but either way, I will give Blockbuster another chance. In any case, I want to thank Ryan, a manager at the store, for his help and honesty.

In some ways BBV is like a small shop where the owner has no idea what's going on while he's away, so you have to realize that your mileage may vary depending on the store, general morale within that store, and who's working on that particular day. Sadly the company makes and enforces stupid decisions that frequently make it tough or impossible to make customers happy. It's awesome that you found someone who was able to give you such a good experience regardless.

Just stay hip to the rules, save receipts and when in doubt physically turn your movies in to the cashier.

No seriously...you believe this shill's bullshit?

(and just so you know...)

shill
Slang.
–noun
1. a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.

glad you had a good experience and i'm glad that you were one of the few customers who actually come to us for help. i usually have to verbally strangle the words out of most customers who are too shy or independent to ask for help.

Companies and things do change. I tend to hold grudges for a long time ,though Chris has probably beat my max. I havent been in walmart or Kmart for over 7 years. I cant stand either or their lines.

I am still waiting for Chris to admit this whole time though hes been a Gold member.

ace.
people play it safe and correct with so much else in their lives, and yet renting , borrowing, seems to blow minds at regular intervals...
i mean you are given a notice of liability...it happens when you are allowed to rent.
isnt that enough?

The words blockbuster and customer service should never go together. They have nothing in common.

I work at Blockbuster and will do the same for a customer as well. But as others have said.. it has to be the right day, right time, etc...

It's all about the employee you deal with, there is a reason why things change. Just because you had a bad experience with an employee, does not mean that the whole company sucks! honestly I work for blockbuster and my staff is great, we all get along very well and most of our regular customers love us and so do our new ones.

I learned working in retail that you got to not hate the company for one or a couple not helpful employee's!!! obviously they need disipline

Not True!!! i bust my ass giving my customers they're service!!!
My customer's always say thank you to me (most of the time when i can help them) It all depends what employee you have! Do not knock us!:(

We also have alot on our plate and alot to take care of since we cannot staff alot of employee's in a shift (the most of us hard working Manager on Duty's understand) and cannot sometimes provide efficient service of you're needs. So please bare with us. we do help the best we can!
