It's so funny because back in the day, when Blockbuster was essentially still the industry leader in rentable home entertainment, this forum was such a wealth of knowledge for pertinent topics and was actually a great resource for all of us. We could reach out to each other with tales of mystery shoppers, operational audits, Loss Prevention terminations, merchandising practices, VHS to DVD conversions on the New Release Wall (I remember when we first got DVD in and began with 1 Bay on the New Release Wall ... I took great delight expanding it whenever I had enough facings of new product). and of course the never-ending customer stories or horrid stories about co-workers or managers.
This site was just fantastic, even though it was never Chris' intention for it to turn into an actual resource guide for employees. As bad as it may sound given the name of the website, this place was good for business operations and training with the wealth of knowledge provided.
I started in 2000 and saw the writing on the wall with the company around 2005 or so .... got out in 2006 and now am part of Corporate America. That company was a decent company to work for when I first started. Project Store rolled around, which some ideas were fine ... others were horrendous and simply did not work in my store. Then, Team Engagement came along, which I didn't think was a bad idea. Then, COMPASS came along. And I was gone not too long after that.
There's always the memories. It felt so good to put my notice in, though. The weight of the world was off my shoulders.
