Bundles
We stopped in the BBV in the next town (actually next state since we love on a line) because Mr AD was looking for Buried in PRP (he could only find blu-ray dvd combos and he didn't want that). Well, we found it in the 2 for 20 bin. Only there was a sign taped over the 2 for 20 sign that said 2 for 23. I thought it was odd that I didn't hear about a price increase on IHBB, but I figured maybe they're a franchise or something. I happened to notice that the 4 for 20 sign also had a 4 for 25 sign over that.
So we get up to the register and since I know the pressure you guys are all under, I'm ready to get talked into a bundle or whatever else. Only they don't, they just tell Mr AD that since he got 2 PVDs, he gets a soda, candy, and popcorn for free. I see what they're doing, so I ask them "what happens if we didn't want that stuff?" And they say we have to take it. So taking it a step further, ok, "can we just pay for it but not take it?" And they say nope, we have to. Now, since it was the 2 of us, I was more aiming for the $5 bundle, but here they are telling me I can't get that, I have to take the $3 bundle, and I can't just take my movies and get out. I knew the pressure was bad but didn't know it was that bad. And I really can't see how they make their bundle goals this way. Like I said, I'm not even sure its a corp. Store. |

I just wanted to see if they were forcing people into taking stuff they didn't want. I was nice about it the whole time, didn't even show them my hot-head side.
It wasn't free stuff. They raised the price of prp in order to meet bundle goals by including shit that some customers probably don't want. Honestly, we didn't want it (we were stopping by the grocery store on the way home anyway), but I was going to take it to help them out. I just think its a little skeevy the way they're going about it. |

We did that for awhile, covered up the original signage with runoff copies of the prp+bundle add. Most of the time, we'd just say 'Ok, while I ring this up, you can go ahead and grab your pop, candy and popcorn.' I'd say 70% of the people just kinda shrugged and said 'ok' and took it. the ones who said they didn't want it, we didn't force them, just rung up the prp's and let them go on their way. It *did* increase our bundle sales but yah...I didn't like doing it.

That is just wrong ... on so many levels.

It's not as a good a bargain, but you can pretty much buy any PRP on Blockbuster Online. With gas prices what they are, and bundles being thrust upon you... just saying. The 2/$20 and 4/$20 doesn't exist in cyberland unfortunately.

Whenever I work with an employee, we start our Blockbuster routine...
He or she will push as much as they can, taking heed to the three no's, all the while I am yelling at them over their shoulder. The customers LOVE it, and it reminds them why they shop with us. |
