Freezer is a common faux paux with coffee. It's actually too damp, and coffee beans are like baking soda - they absorb odors and flavors from the air (so everything in your freezer).

Just a tip from someone who knows way too much about coffee for their own good.
for some reason, the last two bags we left out like that ended up yucky tasting...so we decided to put them in the freezer this time around. made no sense to me...
