Take Two Video, New Jesup Hwy, Brunswick, GA 31525

So, now that I have complete freedom of choice, I dipped into an old store that I used to frequent quite a bit, Take Two Video. I mentioned it upthread in passing, as the store that was in a plaza with a grocery, two restaurants and a drugstore nearby.

I walked in and was taken back to the glory days.

They still have a mural painted directly on the wall of Marilyn Monroe's "Seven Year Itch", and they keep all product (not just games) behind the counter, in CD jewel cases. All previously viewed DVDs are $10, except for a small table of clearance for $5. They have aisles and aisles of stuff on a 5 DVDs/5 days/$5. They have a lot of new releases, which rent daily for $2.75, but he will gladly pro-rate your rental to how many ever days you need, at an additional .99 a day. The owner works his own store, is proactive in his approach to video rental, and keeps up with his store's inventory---brace yourself, current and past BBV employees!---on a computer/register with Windows XP! I KNOW!

Better, the owner is the one who makes all the decisions regarding ordering and content, and he's been in business since 1986, the oldest video store in town. And because Hollywood is goin' out of business and Blockbuster is (embarrassingly) publicly flailing, he's been seeing a significant upswing in business.

It's a beautiful thing. I did what I considered to be the "right" thing and spent some of my Blockbuster 401k money in his store, renting:

WWE SummerSlam 2003
WWE No Way Out 2003
Brutal Massacre: a Comedy
Orgasmo (*yes, by the South Park guys about a Mormon missionary who does porn to make money for his wedding)
Murder Set Pieces

While I know most of you aren't even in the area, I thought I would take the time to recognize a store who's doin' it for themselves, and doin' it well.
