Why does Blockbuster or my SM think that I need to try to score donations and find a charity to partner with for this Open House? Dish is a corporation-wouldn't they have had a charity/non profit event in their past that they would like for us to help? Blockbuster did the Children's Miracle Network donations one year-what happened with that? People come to Blockbuster to rent movies/games- not stay for hours doing crafts, face painting, eating food. More door hangers! Cause the last round of them worked so well. This gaming tournament should be a riot- a bunch of guys huddled around our ps3 right by the registers. We don't even have chairs for people to sit on. I guess they allotted a ton of hours to get this thing up and running but we are short handed and more hours don't help when you don't have anyone to give them to...

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in 7 states to manufacture and or sell "Life Size Kardashian Ass Shaped Pinatas" as the shear size alone blocks out the sun and can cause hysterical blindness and seizure like symptoms.

Not one store in my district has even got 32 people signed up for the "tournament." At least 2 stores are doing bounce houses but most stores are doing coloring contests. To tell the truth don't know too much as the SM has kept things pretty close to the vest for some reason. All I know is they allotted $250 and my SM doesn't want to spend a dime.

BLOCKBUSTER® KICKS OFF HOLIDAY SEASON WITH NATIONWIDE OPEN HOUSE NOV. 19-20, FEATURING ‘CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3’ IN-STORE TOURNAMENT Weekend Event Showcases Company’s New and Improved Products and Services at Stores Nationwide MCKINNEY, Texas, Nov. 16, 2011 — Blockbuster L.L.C. is kicking off the holiday season with lower prices, more convenience and greater value than ever before through its Blockbuster Open House Weekend on Nov. 19-20. Blockbuster Open House weekend activities include “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” tournaments on Saturday, Nov. 19 and special Kids Day activities on Sunday, Nov. 20. Throughout the entire weekend, participating Blockbuster stores will celebrate the occasion with movie trivia contests, free giveaways, store tours, games, prizes and rental specials such as 49 cent movie rentals all weekend long for movies priced at $1.99 and less as well as 99 cent games. “With the enormous popularity of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,’ it’s fitting to hold a free-to-join, head-to-head tournament for prizes for the best players in our Blockbuster neighborhoods nationwide,” said Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Lewis. “We’re pleased to open the doors to our millions of customers Nov. 19-20 to let them experience the improved entertainment options at Blockbuster. We have movies, games, electronics, snacks and more - all under one roof and all at great prices. And our improved Blockbuster Total Access by-mail package, which provides benefits Netflix doesn’t offer, such as the availability of many new releases 28 days before Netflix, unlimited in-store exchanges, games for XBOX360®, Playstation3® and Nintendo Wii™, and no additional charge for Blu-ray™ movies, all add up to greater entertainment value than ever before,” Lewis said. Other Open House specials include the following: Blockbuster is introducing the Blockbuster Combo Pass, providing unlimited in-store rentals and DVDs and one by-mail rental per month for only $14.99 per month, which is now available to first time subscribers during the Open House for only $7.49 for the first month. Visit http://www.blockbuster.com/stores for details. Consumers can purchase a Blu-ray player in store for just $49.99 (while supplies last) when they sign up for a 1-year subscription to Blockbuster Combo Pass (unlimited in- store rentals) or Blockbuster Total Access (unlimited rentals through the mail). For those who want to give the gift of entertainment this holiday season, Blockbuster is featuring a unique “Build Your Own Box Set” of three previously viewed movies or games for $19.99 or five for $29.99. These titles, including Blu-ray, are normally priced at up to $14.99 each. Additionally, selected new movies normally priced at up to $12.99 can be purchased three for $24.99 or five for just $39.99 – a great holiday value. For consumers interested in expanding their entertainment options, the Blockbuster Movie Pass provides the ultimate solution for entertainment on demand. Consumers will have the opportunity at participating stores to learn about Blockbuster Movie Pass on DISH Network and to enter to win a FREE year of DISH satellite TV service, which includes access to Blockbuster Movie Pass. (No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.) During this weekend, more than 500 stores will have a DISH sales representative on-site to answer questions, provide additional details and sign up customers for DISH service with the Blockbuster Movie Pass. Blockbuster President Michael Kelly says the company’s Open House weekend is a unique way to celebrate Blockbuster’s recent transformation from movie renter to full-service entertainment provider. “Our Open House weekend is just one of the many ways we are striving to provide consumers with a full-service entertainment experience,” Kelly said. “With more than 100 million people living near a Blockbuster store, we can provide consumers with immediate convenience and an unparalleled atmosphere for fun and entertainment. We were quick to respond to the cries of disgruntled Netflix customers who were stunned by Netflix 60 percent rate hikes. “Blockbuster’s Total Access is ‘Netflix without the wait,” Kelly added. “The combination of DVDs by mail and unlimited in-store exchanges means more entertainment value for your dollar – and in these challenging economic times, that means a lot to consumers.” To find out more about Blockbuster Open House Weekend, including participating stores near you, visit www.blockbuster.com/openhouse. All prices subject to change, additional restrictions apply. Visit a participating store for details.

Let's hear how many stores get a call next week from their DM stating their store didn't have a good enough turn out. Or sales wasn't as much as expected from them thru the big event.
