The title of the thread says "what would you do?" so he answered with a list of women he'd do. Obviously the humor he was going for didn't work.

I agree, and is probably part of the reason bbvcas's joke didn't work. I on the other hand understood it, just didn't find it funny.

Isn't the first numbers of a movie your store number?

Yes. But those numbers don't show up when you hit LIST, just the Part # and Copy #.

If it was the same way we used to do it, it was a deposit/'hold' of some money. We used to have to phone the bank or credit card supplier and place a hold over something like £100 and then phone to remove it afterwards. I imagine some places probably enforced the customer to pay a deposit, then it was refunded when the item was returned.
It was a real shit, btw. Anyone who had that kind of money kicking around wasn't the type that needed to rent a DVD player... |

I wish my store had this problem - usually it's people coming in screaming "WHY DID YOU CHARGE MY CARD?" because they wanted to cancel their automatic renewal but forgot to tell us that. While I agree that it's good to flag accounts that are being renewed but aren't being used to prevent situations like this, I definitely wouldn't give a credit for all of those months. It's the same as people who wait two months to bring in a movie and then want to argue that you should refund their money because the movie wouldn't play or whatever - I'm pretty generous at the store I work at, but in my mind there's a limit on how long you can not deal with someone and then expect to get sympathy out of me.
