since half of the employees are teenagers huh? and we dont hire until they are 18? i guess ever 18 year old in america works at blockbuster. i know most of them are young but she makes it seem like we are all 16 year old girls chuckling over what jhonny said to melissa in homeroom. Not to mention this incident happened 11 years ago.

And this thread is from almost 2 years ago. Quit bumping old threads. If you don't have anything intelligent to say, then say nothing at all.

Yeah, with all the stores seeming to close at once, anyone who normally posts here would be bored.

If you're going to necro a thread, at least know the facts that you're pretending to be an authority on. When this incident happened (as you so coyly pointed out), the stores DID hire Under 18. I believe the cutoff was 17 or 16 if they were in a school related program. In 1999 and 2000 I had 2 people working for me that were under 18 and we had to make sure they didn't work past 10, couldn't use the shrink wrap machine, etc etc.

Oh, and one of them got taken out in handcuffs after they were caught stealing and were released to their mother out in the parking lot

I've worked for the company since late '99 and we only were able to hire 18 year olds. We did hire 2 high school seniors and had to adhere to labor laws on schoolnights. The one kid was probably the dumbest person I've ever met. He spent the whole night once trying to talk in an Aussie accent because he thought it would impress the ladies. As if his orange car with the Indiana Jones cardboard cutout in the backseat and his extensive knowledge about Star Wars wasn't enough of a panty dropper...someone at the store started refering to him as "Happy Meal"-as in "that boy is a few french fries short of a HM."

We have a vehicle in my town that is done like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle vehicle. My kiddo loves it .. and was quite excited to see it parked at its home, not just at the WalMart LOL
