According to a show called 30 Rock, the Seinfeld strategy, or "SeinfeldVision", is when one inserts footage of Jerry Seinfeld legally and with minimal cost, because NBC owns the rights to hours upon hours of Jerry Seinfeld footage, to all the NBC shows in order to boost ratings.

I do enjoy how Seinfeld was written to have seemingly unrelated events all come together at the end but I hardly find that unique.

I can see Icahn, Antioco, Keyes and Dunlap all going for a joyride, getting arrested and charged with gross indifference to humanity and spending the rest of eternity in a tiny cell in some podunk town.

It was pretty unique and novel for the time -- and the convergence was also absurd and ludicrous and fated. Very funny. Remember Seinfeld premiered 22 years ago and it's been copied to death and now every dopey TV show uses that contrivance.

I never understood how Seinfeld was "a show about nothing." I always consider as a show about 4 friends and their misadventures around New York where they never learn any moral lessons or grow as human beings.

How is that nothing?

Of course the Seinfeld reference makes perfect sense. Who doesn't remember the classic episode where Keyes and Dunlap made cameos and yelled at Kramer for not wearing an AIDS ribbon?

I hated that show. I thought it was pointless and not funny. Then again, it premiered around the year I was born, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I think the phrase "a show about nothing" was a double entendre. The episodes used anti-sitcom plots (i.e. everyday little things like waiting on line or running out of toilet paper, not stuff you'd see on Family Ties or Growing Pains), and also it referred back to the show's decidedly nihilistic view. It was one of my favorite shows back in the 90s, but oddly enough I've never watched it again.
