My path out of Big Blue: Domain flipping?

I've been with the company almost two years (it will be in December), and between the already ridiculous gas prices, which leads to higher prices for auto maintenance; the continuing follies of working for Big Blue; and the responsiblities of a family, I've begun spreading my wings online.

Currently, I only dabble in a little eBaying/Amazon-ing. But I'm curious about domain flipping. I know it's not the most profitible way of doing business, but I would like to do a little of it to supplement my income. I already have one domain and am looking into capitalizing on it.

I guess what I am asking is: does anyone here "flip"? If not, can anyone recommend a good website that isn't an advert for selling a book/video/download? Currently, it's only a $10 investment for me, but I'm just curious about trying to make more of it.

In all honesty it isn't the greatest thing in the world. The only time it is worth it, is if you have a website a company wants. I am still sitting on a few from awhile back that people want, but they just aren't going to buy.

The new domain naming conventions coming out soon will be a bit of a pain in the ass to be honest as a whole new scheme will be open to the public.

However if you still want to do it, find a cheaper registar. 1and1.com is the cheapest one around.

Funny thing is, I realized that a lot of this stuff is kind of iffy, but I also realized porn can be profitible. So, my first domain is porn-ish. I haven't done anything to it yet, which I realize is not doing anything for its value.

What really frustrates me is that no one on any website I've located spells out HOW to sell a domain. I've been to dozens of websites and it's just a big fucking advertisement. Most of them link to each other.

Not to mention the ethics involved in purchasing goods you don't want and selling them at a higher price to people who actually do want them.

I wouldn't quit your day job. Any business where there's money to be made requires serious time and effort.

actually the bigger thing now is getting domains that people want and NOT selling them, but using them as portals for affiliate links. There is a domain that I know someone (company) wants and I have done some research, and the guy that owns it, WON'T sell, and has been sued and both won and lost different domain cases...He gets about $1000 per month from each domain....(No wonder he wouldn't sell, most can't sell for that times X)

Hmmm...not to sound completely brain-dead, but how do I go about that? Just post their links on my domain? Google AdSense, perhaps?

A quick "guess" revealed this site:

http://www.blockbusters.com

Take a look, that is exactly what I am talking about. Not sure how it works beyond that (affilates, payment, etc...)
