Do you CHEAT to get rewards?
We're all anonymous here...do you cheat to get rewards for sales?
Do you give two non new releases for free for a signup? Do you credit a new release or game instead of a non new for a signup? Do you give customers more than what you should to get a signup? What do you do? You don't have to be specific but I'm curious to how many people cheat! |

I had an SM that used to use the rewards coupons from a family member's account on people who were on the fence.
I also had a coworker who would do something with people's credit cards to charge them for things like movie passes and rewards and then create HUGE messes a month or two later when the people realized blockbuster was taking their money. I just smiled a lot (rare, for me) and explained the bennefits, told them my mom had it and she loved it, and it was usually an easy sell.

Don't forget, if it hasn't paid for itself in 90 days, they can just ask for a full refund and we'll be happy to provide them with that.
1. Hardly anyone doesn't make it worth it in 90 days. 2. No one will ever remember. |

The only "cheat" I've ever used is if they have a habit of renting a buttload of stuff all at once (at least six or seven at a time), and told them they could have it for the balance of their Rewards, minus the free old one and the earned free one they get at the register, usually from free (if they also rented a next gen game, say) up to $3-4. But in that case, they're already a perfect candidate for the program.
Further, if they're already renting that much, they need it. It pisses me off when certain folks come in week after week with a stack of videos and then try to tell me "Oh, I don't rent enough for that." So, I show them how much they'd save if they'd just break loose with the cash, and let them know I won't bug them again until it comes due a year later. It's weird how many people get Rewards confused with Movie/Game Pass, and they'll even tell you that they can't afford to pay that much A MONTH when you're offering a yearly program. Otherwise, no. |

I'll sell it to them without even asking if they're renting 6 old movies on a Tuesday.
Let them know I'm saving them money and they now get this program for the rest of the year. But that's not cheating, that's saving my customer money. |

I don't cheat any of those ways. I do tend to leave off the little part that you have to rent 5 in a month to get that 6th one free.
Back when i was a lowly CSR i had a SM that would write you up if you didnt get your quota of rewards in a week, I actually paid for several customers to join rewards. So i've never had a write up but i won't do that anymore.

NO, never. i explain every element of the Rewards better than anyone in the store. this way, i don't have to clean up after my own mess, though i still do have to clean up after other people's mess when they don't take the effort to explain every little detail.
i have paid for a couple rewards because of my mistake on renewing them. i accidentally hit Y instead of N on the renewal notice and instead of having to bother the MOD who is probably working on cycle counts, i just paid for them. and charging the rewards to customers w/o asking? that's friggin ballsy. my customers get upset w/ just paying for their restocking fees even after telling them what, when and how they got them. |
