Blockbuster is the perfect company to train you for that! Anyone should be able to jump ship with ease.

to play devil's advocate for a moment (aside from the fact that Al Pacino is awesome), this is exactly what our computer support people do, too. Except in hideous English.

It's a store-by-store basis. Not everyone can be relied upon to deliver good customer service, and teenagers least of all. Maybe that's why BBV has customer service issues in-store, because they do hire a lot of idiot teenagers from time to time.

Yesterday I picked up my new cell phone from Verizon, and waited for over two hours for them to call my name because the store was super busy. Anyway, the store had closed and I was still waiting. This one lady, who had her name called needed a new phone because she accidently dropped her phone in a lake WENT OFF on the girl behind the counter because they were checking out the people who were just buying accessories (kind of like us ringing people up while a customer fills out a membership app....you know that the app is going to take a few, so you try to get the line down). She ended up screaming at the girl about how she has been waiting for two hours, how lousy the service was and how she was GOING TO GO TO ANOTHER VERIZON STORE AND TELL THEM ABOUT THE LOUSY SERVICE AT THIS STORE! She waited all that time, and when it was her turn - goes off on the poor girl and leaves without getting her issue taken care of!

This, my friend, is something I feel has come from the days of instant gratification. Fast food, drive thrus, on demand, etc.

Along those lines, it's like the customers who sit around doing nothing all day, come to our store at 11:58, then get mad when I tell them we're closing the store in two minutes, then proceed to scream bloody murder at me for not being accomodating. Then I relent, let them browse until 12:15, and they rent... nothing.

i have a guy who now comes in Saturday nights at 11:59 just to irritate me. I live an hour from my store, so when the store closes, i want to get out as fast as possible. I was polite the first time..he came to the door while i was locking it and begged to get a movie, so i let him in. He had NOOO idea which movie he wanted, and went bay by bay around the wall. After telling him 10 times that we were closing, he comes to checkout. He now does this every Saturday night.

LOL, just close the store at 11:58 then. Chances of anyone but him coming in those last 2 minutes are slim to none.

Or what I would probably do if that happened to me regularly like you're saying is tell him that I'm closing my register at, say, 12:05 and if he's not ready by then he won't be able to rent that night period, and stick to it.
