Cool. Hopefully in a few years they'll have DVD exit MOP pulls, and sell all DVD's for $2.99. And then the old ladies that finally bought a DVD player will find out that they can't rent anything new without a Blu-Ray.

My old store was testing out both about a year ago. I havent been in one that had them for last 9 months or so and have no idea how rental volume ended up.
I know I get requests for both at my current store. I usually send em off to one of the 3 stores I know that carry them. I can attest to one thing. Our first inventory at my old store, we were missing quite a bit of both formats. They were popular with the thieves.

Yeah, I really don't see DVD fazing out immediately at the whim of new technology. Remember when DVD first came out? Hell, we still carried VHS at my store up until a year ago, and some stores even carry them still. I even think Ig's estimate of 2012-2015 is a little too early, but who knows.

Heck go to a Hollywood Video, VHS is the only thing that keeps them afloat.

YAY
I can't believe they made the right call. Indeed, the fact they chose the right one makes me wonder if it's the right one after all.

Right one can be subjective. Today for example, I had 2 chairs and I wanted to sit in one.
One on my left had a tear, one on my right had a weak leg. I decided on the right one which had the weak leg. So then the phone rang and I did a 180 to pick it up. Talked for a minute then hung it up and sat in the chair which at that moment was the right one. Since I had done a 180 the right one was actually the old left one. So I really did sit in the right one even though technically it wasnt the right one. Excuse me, I need some dramamine

I'll buy the mainstream one in about ten years if it hasn't already been replaced by then. By then, a HD-DVD/B-Ray player will be readily available for $29.99 at wal-mart
