You know you think the box stores are dying but Family Video seems to be doing fine. I go in there at least once a week and they always have the new releases (sure they may run out but it's the weekend, can't be surprised). I think it's all in the way that BB handles their situation. Maybe there's a wholesaler they can get their DVD/Blu-rays from. It might not only be cheaper than getting it from the studios but maybe they can get more copies.

Blockbuster is closing some stores down so they can re-open new ones in differents areas. Think about it
