While the terms of the settlement are confidential, the parties have agreed to secure dismissal of all claims in the litigation. The settlement will have no material effect on Blockbuster's future financial performance.

Could not care less.

Total Access

I read the yahoo news article, and it didn’t answer many of the questions I had. In fact much of it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

Blockbuster has obviously been moving towards subscription services, such as the Movie Pass package and the on-line Total Access program. While I understand these programs are an attempt to remain competitive, it appears as though these programs would drastically undercut Blockbuster’s earnings.

Anyone who’s worked at Blockbuster will tell you that Total Access members take up staff time, walk out with store inventory, and may not spend any money in-store. The flat rate monthly fee also means customers aren’t spending nearly as much for their movies. So how is Blockbuster making money on this?
