Raises

Hey all,

sorry if I missed a different post on the same topic...but I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about raises?? I know they are usually every September....and last year they got pushed back until December. I could really use/deserve a raise....and was just wondering if anyone had any imput on the situation. I appreciate your comments/info.

don't expect anything. They would have to have all SMs do performance reviews first then raises would be based on those reviews...they haven't said one word about those yet. It won't happen. I've been looking for a new job because there's no way I'll ever get another raise (haven't had one since last year).

It is official...

Hourly employees are NOT getting a raise. The status of managers is being determined.

Thanks for working at Blockbuster.

That's a good question. I don't know as I do not live in California. I suspect that IF they give store managers a raise, they'll find a way to include those who live in CA as well.

However, I really doubt that anyone that works in a store is going to get a raise. Of course, Nick Sheppard still got his raise...because he and Johnny Boy have done so much to help the company. Why, just think of all of the money we are saving right now on black ink.

Everyone knows that red ink is less expensive...and that is certainly the color that is being used to put the financial numbers in the books now.

Just you wait...the fun is only starting. Write-ups and terminations are going to start flowing like water for failing to meet unrealistic goals on radically reduced payroll. Make no mistake, these are the reactions of a group of desprate men and women in upper management trying to save their own bloated salaries at our expense. It matters not one iota to them (at the RDO level and above) if turnover becomes an issue and morale drops. There's always a fresh supply of college grads with degrees in journalism that will accept a job running a store for $30k per year after their futile dreams of writing for the New York Times are unrealized.

We can ALL be replaced. Easily. Those of us who are making more than the bare minumum of wages or salary for the positions we occupy should keep this in mind. Don't think for a second that the folks in Dallas haven't thought of this as well.
