Does it grind your gears? What I don't understand about that phrase is, well, say you jump the fence to the greener grass side... does that now mean the yard you just left is greener than where you are now?

I suppose so since the implication is that people are never satisfied with what they have, or where/who they are. Meh. I preferred Erma Bombeck's rephrasing: the grass is always greener over the septic tank.
