Sav, you should edit your first post though, to contain a link to the old thread! Anyways, I, myself, have been having fun with the trade-in offer. Here's what it is, for those who don't know: Games: Trade-in any 2 games, and get £10 off the price of a chart game. DVDs: Trade-in any 2 games, and get £5/£6 (depending on the price) off the price of any chart DVD. Just to clarify, that's money off in total, not extra money on top of what the traded-in goods are worth. Though some clearer POS would help... Anyways... Two dullard customers come in and trade four games. I can't remember what they were, but they worth £4, £6, £6 and £10. They went off to pick out things to buy. They came up with about £60 worth of stuff, thinking their £26 credit would cover this. Hum. Me: "Okay, the cost of these things comes to £56.93. Is that okay?" Cust 1: "Errr, wha? Hang on, don't you get £10 off when you buy this?" [holds up GTA: Liberty Stories] Me: "Um... hang on..." [I look at the history to see double-check as to whether any two games combined came to less than £10] Cust 2: "Yeah, it says over there we get £10 off if we've traded two games, and we've just traded... like... four!" Me: "Okay, the two lowest value games you traded were £4 and £6, so that comes to £10 anyway. So there's nothing extra to discount." Cust 1: "What?" Cust 2: "Sorry, I don't get that." Me: "Okay... the deal isn't an extra £10 off... it's £10 in total regardless of the value of the two games. Since your two lowest value games came to £10 anyway, there's nothing extra to take off." Cust 2: "What's she on about, man? I don't understand." Cust 1: "I don't get it either. It says over there £10 off. So what's the deal?" Me: "Heh, okay... right... let me try and explain this. Let's just say you traded-in just 2 games, right?" Cust 1: "Yeah." Cust 2: "Right." Me: "And this game costs £19.99, right?" Cust 1: "Right." Me: "Well, whatever the value of the games, it doesn't matter, you get £10 off in total. So you'd pay £9.99." Cust 1: "Ahh, errr..." Cust 1 seems to be slowly understanding. Cust 2, however... Cust 2: "What? Hang on, so do I get £10 off?" Me: "Well, no, bec-" Cust 2: "Well, that's bullshit! It says right over there!" Me: "Look..." starting to get annoyed now "...the idea is that you trade-in two cheapo games, worth about 50p each, but you get £10 off anyway. The games you traded-in were actually worth £10 on their own." Cust 1: "Dude, I think I get it." Cust 2: "Well, I don't. Look -- do I get £10 off or not?" Cust 1: "No, you don't." Cust 2 looks at me, thinking I'm ready to correct his friend. Me: "No... you don't." Cust 2: "Well, that's false advertising then! It says £10 off, and you don't get £10 off. What the fuck?" Cust 1: "Dude... just... I get it, okay." Cust 2: "I'm sorry, but I really don't get this." Ahhh... shoot me in the head. I have actually run out of ways of explaining this now. I attempt again, but pretty much repeat what I've already said. Eventually Cust 2 accepts that he's not going to get GTA: Liberty stories for £9.99, but probably still doesn't full understand why. I am past caring. Now we've got that sorted... Cust 1: [holds up 'Memoirs of a Geisha'] "So, I know it says you get £6 off when you trade-in two DVDs, but does it work with games too?" Me: "Um... but your two lowest value games came to £10 credit anyway..." Cust 1: "Yeah... and?" I quit. |

Don't get me wrong, I know our POS isn't exactly labelled very clearly. The deal used to be, for example, if the DVD retails at £14.99, trade any two DVDs and get this chart DVD for £8.87. But, to make it easier on us and them, they made it a generic £5/£6 off (it's £5 off if the DVD retails at £11.99 or £12.99, £6 if £13.99 or above). So, you trade any two DVDs, you get £6 off. Your DVDs are worth £1, we give you an extra £5 discount. See? |
