Dish Week

So for those you still working in store, I'm sure you know that Dish is rolling out to all the stores this week.

It's been days of pointlessly long and numerous conference calls, pimping out your lowest paid employees to be Dish reps, and modules and handouts that make you cringe at the thought of selling Dish...

Seeing it first hand, I feel bad for the SM's who have to take this day after day. I can understand that at some point, this was going to happen to all the stores, but seeing the stress it puts on these people is ridiculous.

The company is making great strides in reducing our overhead and company wide spending, like closing store support and cutting local buys. But you would think at the very least, besides actually paying out bonuses and giving raises, that they would add hours to stores so they could properly staff weekends.

The thought, also, that their forcing CSR's in each store to sale Dish is just retarded. I understand it from their business point of view, but really? I mean do they really want people that have little to no interest in selling Dish? When I hear, "I really don't want to do this..." or "Ugh, do I really have to sale Dish?", doesn't exactly instill a vote of confidence that this will work at the store level like they hope...

Oh and the "fun incentives"? Again, why the fuck would we want a pizza party if we sale alot? I mean, WERE NOT A BUNCH OF FUCKING 3RD GRADERS! Money, bitches, that what the people want.

But I digress, I really wanted to know what the IHBB community thinks of all this, how it's impacting your store and your employees, or just your opinion on how this will all pan out.

I think if dish would at least give people a commision for sales it would work better, but no. What were you people going to expect from a corp who buys you out and shuts down all those store. Hell they want to make more money, to make money you have to spend some

Most bankers will tell you to save but in this case it applies

Beware this is a rant...I am just amazed at the total lack of "actual" sales training stores have (not) received in order for it employees to be come Dish specialists.

Doing a compass module, having numerous conference calls, no extra labor allowed & printing three trees worth of paperwork for a binder that the SM will get fired for not having completed by the end of the day Wednesday is as PATHETIC as every other program in the past.

You would think that with the biggest initiative this company has implemented so far that DISH would have given more consideration to the training. How can a company expect to magically turn it's employees into "Dish sales representitives" without formal training?

Would it have been too much to ask that an actual Sales Rep come into every store and have a training class. Explain programs in person and let us practice with someone that really knows what they are talking about. (The SM is as oblivious to this program as the rest of us). Not for a lack of trying to learn, but sometimes it's easier to learn by experience.

Maybe thinking this through a little more may have been better. Having the incentive set and not still up in the air the day before launch, giving employees a dish discount or even giving the store some real POP (not just brochures) to help serve our customers.

Sorry to vent, but this whole rollout is really too little too soon. The results will reflect the training received and there will be a backlash. They just never seem to understand we want to be successful, we want to keep our jobs a make the company and ourselves some money.

Yes this was a rant but.... it's true. If they would just train/pay properly for the program roll out then maybe.... just maybe it would succeed but with all that has happened over the last year and then the lack of training going into this, it's just sad and it's difficult on employee's. Especially since you know there will be quota's to be made and the CAM process to be followed then the threats will follow since everyone is going to be watching. I do hope that it goes well for people that have to do it but am glad I don't have to worry about this stuff.

So maybe my store closing isn't the worse thing in the world?? Because it sounds like the new Dish selling bullshit is going to be ALL KINDS of fun...Does anyone remember when we started our partnership with Directv? We actually went to a training seminar and had an incentive in place. How funny it was when we couldn't sell the $200 systems that they had us give the units away for free and still paid $25 commission. Wait a minute, they fucked the payout up on that too....
