In all honesty, if I was DM, I'd just throw up my arms and yell, "Fuck it. We're done in a matter of a year or so anyway. Sell whatever, do whatever, just have fun." Seriously, with a debt this size mounting up, the best you can do is throw the balls to the wall. Have fun with it. It's not going to be any more or less saved because you sold five more Rewards this week. Even if every store did (which it won't, because BBV apparently failed Percentages Classes), it's not enough to significantly affect the debt. New program rollouts are just a waste of what good money there is left, at the expense of alienating the poor saps who still throw out money in a video store. Therefore, fuck it. It's all going down anyway, so throw it back old school-- stop the ridiculous sales, and have fun. Stop the fear based pressure. Maybe, just maybe, if you treat the employees like you did when the store was doing well, maybe the stores will, without recapturing that money (because it's impossible at this point), do well. Or at least better. You higher ups may think that, with a bad economy, that fear driven job pressure may drive sales, but all you're doing is driving away customers, and driving employees like us to start firing up the resume machine. It's like Office Space. You're not motivating us to excel, you're motivating us to do juuuuuuuuuuuuust enough to not get fired. And let me put this forth-- is doing the bare minimum you're inspiring enough to knock down a wall of debt crippling enough to choke the company?

Remember to those of you who are still left, that you need to take that giant first step and get the fuck out. It's scary, but like I said before, almost everyone I know leaving a shitty situation has landed in a better work environment.

Okay, let's cut the shit, shall we? I had previously thought to do this, but chickened out. Now, I'm going to go ahead and give you the straight line. Most of us knows that Blockbuster's email is stupidly simple. If your DM's name is Chad Smith (no, I don't know a Chad Smith, but John Smith would have had to lead into numbers, so...), chances are his email is chad.smith@blockbuster.com. Same goes for RDO, etc. Now, fucking use it. (And yes, it's also jim.keyes@blockbuster.com, but why waste your email?) Hell, why not just start the revolution here, and stage a mass walkout? We're already online, and lots of us are on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. or else have other ways of communicating outside of the Blockbuster sphere. Just hit up our fellow Blockbuster brethern and all of you walkout, en masse. Don't be a dumb bitch like me and stay around because you think you owe them something, or else you can't do better. Please don't use the fucking economy as an excuse either! Get out while you have your health, and your mental faculties. Felt kind of like Norma Rae there for a minute! But seriously. They already treat employees like they don't matter, so why would they miss you? It's too late for them to come back now and say, "Guys, we really need you!" Fuck that. You have to take care of yourselves, because Big Blue isn't going to do it.

as a csr, i make little enough hours, and have such little responsibility, sans selling rewards, which i don't put too much thought into the pressure anyway, that i've found this summer i have a lot of time to look for other jobs. i just had an interview today. it was awesome. a couple short afternoons a week of hanging out in a well airconditioned place where i get to talk about movies and videogames aint so bad for my particular case.
but i needs the money, and i'm working hard to have a career related to my degree program at school. i know the end is neigh and i ask my mods every shift i'm in what their exit strategies are. i don't want to see these people whom over these years here i've grown to care about get screwed over. stores are dropping in my district like dimes. its only a matter of time.
