Question Open House Ideas

Store "Open House" events will be Nov 18, 19, 20, with the 20th being geared toward "family day".

Just thought with all the new initiatives going on in the store this month, we might be able to toss around some ideas to help each other out.

Please don't get off topic and keep this thread productive. There are actually some employees that want to try different things. Stores will have a $250 budget to work with, so what are some of your thoughts?

If it is geared towards family day then why not have a raffle and there will be prizes...have the parents put there child's name and something else you can actually identify them with as children can not have accounts.

Or strippers

A lot of stores are already doing a mandatory one that weekend. They even made a top gamer list and sent it to stores thru box office. We have to make the calls this week. I wonder what else we will do... I think the drawing is a good idea. That would make it more fun for the kids. Maybe like a mini carnival type thing on the family day with games that are set up in the store, like bag toss and what not. I dunno, just an idea

For anyone that whats more information its this
-------------------------

What is BLOCKBUSTER’S Open House?
On November 18th, all stores will begin showcasing their new store layouts to customers and begin offering great 4th quarter promotions. The purpose of Blockbuster’s Open House is to introduce customers to the new Blue Carpet Releases section and kick off the holiday promotions season – together reminding customers of the great value our stores have to offer and the importance of our stores as a home media destination. For the Open House weekend, your store will be offering some of the most incredible offers in the history of Blockbuster. These promotions scream the value that your store provides. Promotions such as; $0.49 rentals on all $1.99 and less movies and $0.99 games (all weekend long!), $1.49 for any 20oz Coke product and $0.99 movie, $0.49 20oz Coke products all weekend! There will be a special offer on the NEW Toshiba Blu-ray players – $49 with a year subscription to Combo Pass or Total Access (and they can still pay monthly for the subscription!) We have also secured support from Coca-Cola and Popcornopolis to provide free giveaways for your events. Stores will receive small chachki items from Coke to giveaway and product samples and sampling cups for Popcornopolis by November 18th. For those that have not been introduced to Blockbuster’s Open House, you will learn more about it in this week’s Q4 Store Manager meetings.
How do I get started?
The attached program guide will walk you step-by-step through the events that will be held in every store the weekend of November 18th – 20th. To ensure these events are a success, there is some work on your part that needs to be completed prior to the events. Since you will be showcasing your store with the Open House, we thought it would only be appropriate for you to leverage businesses and partnerships within your community to support your Open House.

$250 budget for a family open house...hmmm

A good bit of kid movies will be coming out at the end of the month. I say hold a raffle, game tournament, or some event where the winning person gets 3-4 tickets to go see The Muppets, Happy Feet 2, or Arthur Christmas.

Go purchase small toys or other trinkets from those movies to give out as consolation prizes.

Pick movies out of your family section to give to 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

Make sure you get popcorn ready and have a cooler of drinks available. Maybe coordinate with a local pizza shop to have that there.

Let's see....Balloons out front and flags to draw people to you. Make your own creative advertisement papers to place around the store. Hype it to every customer up to the day.

It maybe fun to have a person dress up and interact with customers.

This sounds like an opportunity to show your creativity. $250 is a small budget, but it is still manageable.

Dollar General has some small toys for 10 cents .... With coupons you can get lots of stuff free ... just match them against the sample sizes.

Are you allowed to give away free rentals?
