Unfortunately because of the lack of sufficient copy depth, that 28 day window is virtually pointless because people can't get new releases for the first couple weeks anyway. By then, they're willing to wait another few days to get them on the cheap.

nobody cares anyway.

if nobody knows the release date, nobody cares about a lame 28 day window.

they'll rent what they see, period.

It actually does work and does effect of business. Not every single location will have the absolute effectiveness but enough to make a difference in our business. Its not necessary "OMG IT WILL SAVE THE COMPANY" but its a right step in the right direction. My store does take advantage of it great and customers know it. People just want to see the movie. Only for a couple of dollars for a night or 3?

Haven't you notice customers always look at "whats out" and "coming soon"? It happens all the time. We employees sometimes make the mistake they need help with something but really their just looking at those signs. lol

it doesnt do anything.

the amount of people showing up in your store isnt going up, neither is your revenue.

therefore it doesnt do anything. it's being advertised to the same 1000 people that already visit your store.

Yeah, I don't believe that 28 day window is a huge deal. With a ton of consoles with high speed internet and cable companies with on demand, people can pay the same price without needing to drive to the store. And if you want bonus features, you can probably find it online somewhere. With gas prices so high, it's a lot cheaper and easier to purchase a new release rental on my 360

Please read my post again. You can not say "it doesn't do anything" That means, the purpose of this deal has a 0% effect overall.

Also, the amount of people coming in and renewing or sign up again has increase too. Thus giving us more revenue. Again, not all stores will have the same effect as some will have better effects. The advertisement needs to spread like you said. The only customers coming in will know about it yet the blockbuster online website does advertise it. But we need a TV, paper, or internet ad to spread it more. Look at the Period reports and it will show you the results.
