Then she said, "Oh No I never put my movies in the drop box they get lost and dont always get checked in if you put them in there!"
WHAT?!
She said, "I want to SEE you check them in" Again I explained how busy I was but I took the movies and set them beside my register. She walked away. And I promptly threw them in the drop box.
People are so weird.

We get these people all the time. I always tell them that they have 2 options. (1) drop it in the drop box and it'll get checked in with all the other ones, or (2) wait in line like everyone else. If they try and just place the movies ont he counter and walk away, I simply lock them and put em on the shelf w/o checking them in and make a note on their account explaining what happened.
We've had far too many people who think that if they drop movies in the drop box, they won't get checked in, so they put them anywhere EXCEPT the drop box. So we've made it a policy to not check them in and have even put up a sign that says "if you don't put it IN the drop box, we aren't responsible for your movie." So many retards coming to our store lately.

Not trying to a smart ass but does your store not do FOS? It just seems if you let movies go back on the shelf without checking them in, even though it is annoying when people put movies anywhere but the box, you're just wasting more time later by having to look for them on the shelf once they show up on FOS. At one of my stores, FOS is usually right at three pages long and I can't imagine purposely making it any longer.

That is ridiculous and I would fire your ass if you were one of mine. I hope someone from your area catches you and nails you.

(Yes this was a personal attack and to hell with anyone who disagrees. We do not need people like this.)

What are you, a computer program?

This is exactly why BB employees have such an unshakable stigma nationwide for bad customer service ethic.

Yes we do FOS, yes we find at least 2-3 movies on it everyday. Yes we get pissed off customers every now and then, but the moment it's revealed to them that they didn't put it in the drop box or wait in line, the problem never occurs again. Sorry if y'all don't agree... just something our store does.

I do the same thing, and if it makes FOS a little longer, that's okay with me as long as there's a chance they'll call and complain first.

Gosh we're anal.

This Morning

Time: This Morning
Situation: 4 people in line - Me working alone.

Lady comes up to the side of the register I'm working on and asks if we have a bathroom.

I say Yes, but you'll have to wait a minute or two until I finish checking these customers out.

All customers in line: "we'll wait - go ahead and let her use the bathroom"

As I step around the counter - I find out she is very pregnant and hurry to the back of the store to let her in.

I'd swear. Today was just plain bad with customers today. I had a snotty teenager who had to fill out for an account and had a snotty attitude, complaining about having to give her drivers licence number. Customers couldn't remember the names of the movies they wanted to save their lives. One that really stood out was a phone call I got

Me: Blockbuster, Ridge speaking.

C: Yes, I was wondering if you have a movie called the Story Book Princess.

Me: One moment.

I look it up under every way there is to spell "story book" and can't find it.

Me: I can't seem to find a listing to it. Are you sure you have the right title for it?

C: Yes, I was just watching it on PBS, and I checked their web site to find the title of it. It was a movie by Rob Reiner.

Me: Oh, the Princess Bride.

C: Yes, that's the one.

Then we talked for a minute about what a classic that movie is.

Then there was the guy brought up "The Bee Movie" I scan his card.

C: Oh, is there any way to take a movie I rented off our list?

I hit "list" and bring up some movies he has out"

C: I rented a movie me and my wife aren't proud of.

I look at his list and it's one of those movies with a title that could be any type of movie, but was a "R" rated porno.

ME: Well, as far as I know, there is really nobody in the company that can mess with your history. But, it is illegal for us to share that information with anybody but you.

The guy looked relieved and must have said thank you at least five times.

When people call up to ask us to remind them what movies they rented and when they're due, I'm always afraid it's actually not them and just a gossip monger wondering what a neighbor rented.

God, today was hell for us too. We were busier than we were friday and saturday night, and people were just plain rude. Here's a couple that stands out for me:

*woman completely cuts everyone in line by walking right up to the register*
CSR: Actually, there is a line that starts over there.
Customer: Well, you should have someone direct traffic then because I didn't know.

Seriously? You didn't see the entire line of people waiting to be cashed out?

*woman calls bitching that the wrong disc was in a movie she just rented*
Customer: ...how hard is your job were you can't check a movie in correctly?
CSR: I'm sorry about that...(etc. etc.)

I told the CSR that he should have said, "Ma'am, why don't you rent the movie Waiting and say that to me again because if this movie was food, my cum would be in it." CSR then proceeds to fall to the floor laughing hysterically.

Sure, maybe a little harsh but after a day like today, I didn't care.

Oh, and I need some advice from you guys. This woman comes in with her kid it seems like every other day. While the woman looks around, her kid, about 8 or 9 years old, proceeds to walk around the store, or go up to whoever is working and calls them names or goes behind the counter and hits them in the leg and take off. We've told him to knock it off and he won't. I even went as far as telling him to go back to his mother or go run out into moving traffic to get the kid to shut up but nothing's worked (CSR laughs at this as well). We're very leery about saying anything to the mother for fear she'll go off on us but I just can't take it anymore. The kid needs to behave while he is in the store and if he doesn't, I don't want him there. He can wait in the car.

My question, how do we explain that to the mother so that she doesn't get offended and bitch us out?
