Thumbs up Texting and Milage

We were told by our DL today that he is no longer allowed to use his cell phone to send text messages as a form of communication to employees. I guess someone did something stupid so the company has told them to stop! Also SM's are not allowed to initiate texts with their employees. It is ok for CSR's, ASM's & SL's to send the SM a text and ok for the SM to send the DL a text, but not the other way around.

Since BBV doesn't pay for personal cell phones I never thought it should be used for corp. communication, and could it could be considered working off the clock for hourly employees.

Mileage will be paid now for ALL employees. You will be required to keep an expense log that has already be loaded into the Master folder. If you are required to work at other stores you can expense the difference in distance from your home store. For example, if you live 2 miles from your home store and the borrowed store is 10 miles you can expense 8 miles each way for that day. Also all trips to the bank or DBR's must be logged and may be expensed.

I think this is great news! Logs must be kept by individual employees and will be audited by LP for abuse. Our DL said he wants to collect them only once a period. They have to have a minimum of $50. to send it in. At .40 cents per mile that is a nice reimbursment.

The company is not going to "remind" anyone to complete the forms, you are on your own individually. If you don't keep the proper records, SOL...

Wait, does the mileage count just for driving regularly to my home store?

And how are they going to enforce this???

I can see the DM just saying:
"Ok people I need cell phone records, or let me see your phone and how do you access the texting history??" "Ok your fired for not letting me see your cell phone!!!"

No. Trying to remeber who was here for the original conversion for the dvd's. Anyway it works like that did. So say your home store is store "A" and you had to cover in store "B" whatever the mileage is from "A" to "B" is what you would get mileage on.

I haven't heard anything about it being for coverage. To my knowledge it is for the Multi Store Managers. When I find out more I can post if you'd like.

keke i wonder how they plan on averaging out the expense per mile. i drive a super fuel-efficient vehicle... i doubt they'll ask.

but yeah, the texts from my SM were so damn annoying. i'm totally fine with that.

No. If the borrowing store is closer than you drive to your home store you cannot claim it.

If I remember correctly from conversion (I was on the team) then it works from your home store to drive to the borrowing store - even if the borrowing store is closer to you. I lived 45 minutes from my base store, and there is a store that is in my district that is 8 miles from my apartment that I had to go to convert. I was able to charge 35 miles, and they knew that I lived close by (it washed out when I had to go to a store that was 90 miles away and was only able to charge them 35 miles because it was on the other side of my base store.).

i thought that text messaging last minute 'shift huddle' type things was AWESOME. imagine how much time it saves the DM, and you dont have to get into a conversation with the DM during a busy night. I think its dumb that they took it away. I have unlimited texts, the DM should figure out who does and who doesnt and dont bother those of us who do have unlimited texts. He can call the other people.
