They don't care anymore now because of bluray. Its better and better protected. Plus they were having issue with people because there old dvd or some dvd players couldn't play it right. Therefore, the protection they used is doc down. Disney is another story.

true, though i was just speaking of titles that have both TITLE_RENTAL and TITLE_(country) volumes. if a movie has a volume noting rental, it's probably going to have varying protection layers that a retail version does not.
