firing via e-mail?

My grandmother heard something about this on the news & called me up first thing this morning saying, "You better check your email! I heard Blockbuster's firing employees through their email!"

If this is true, I would like to say that this is the shittiest way to let someone go. If you can't say it to an employee's face, then that's pretty insulting.

Anyone heard anything about this?

Though that's a pretty good idea. Saves you on gas money driving to the store to find out you get to go home again after the shortest shift of your life.

Yeah, Grandma might need new batteries in her hearing aid. It was Radio Shack (tho I do believe it was in the Dallas-area, so perhaps that is the confusion)

I actually meant to come on here last night and comment on it. Tho perhaps for the next round of layoffs, perhaps BBI will just come on here and post the notices

(Also, I do believe that these were corporate Radio Shack employees that were let go)

So you heard secondhand through a senior citizen that the one piece of communication information not known by your company is the one they will use to fire you. And you thought it warranted a serious thread. Do I have that right?

Yes, and as I said, I was going to come on here last night, and post it.

The difference is, I had some RESEARCH and knew that it was Radio Shack that did this, and didn't base it on a rumour by a senior citizen about a misheard news story

Then again, one thing that seniors and BBI have in common, is neither of them are very good at using email
